Kua Bay Beach

Kua Bay beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Just recently a paved road was made giving easy access to it.  Prior to that, it was not easily accessible so many people did not go to the beach there.  The access is located roughly a mile a south of Hualalai Resort.  You will travel along a paved road roughly 2 miles until you reach the parking.  There are not many parking stalls.  There are a few stalls and handicap stalls, but all the rest of the parking is located on the side of the road.

Since Kua Bay is part of Kekaha Kai State Park there are several amenities there such as restrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables, and a lifeguard stand.

Kua Bay is a nice white sand beach and is located on a bay so offers relatively calm waters.  In the winter months the waves can get slightly larger and can be good for people looking to have a good time boogie boarding.  In the summer months there are small waves that are great for children.  Overall this is a safe beach for families in Hawaii.  There are several areas of the waters that offers great snorkeling and you do not have to swim too far out to reach them.

If you are a beach goer and traveling to the Big Island of Hawaii, Kua Bay should be on your list.  If you are looking for a beachfront place to stay, Kolea is rated top on the Big Island of Hawaii and is roughly a 15 minute drive from Kua Bay.
