Ainamalu is the newest development at Waikoloa Beach Resort. This community currently offers private homes and has future plans for more development, but at this point there are very few homes built giving it a very private feeling. The homes at Ainamalu range in size from 3 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms and offer a variety of views. Some of the golf estates overlook the Waikoloa Beach Resort golf course. The other resort residences offer a variety of views from distant ocean views to views of the beautiful Mauna Kea mountain. Most of the homes that are vacation rentals offer a private pool.

Ainamalu, meaning protected and peaceful land, was developed with the intent to offer privacy and space which is fitting of resort living. This development was one of the first on the Big Island of Hawaii to put a focus on energy efficiency. The original intent was to be a self sustainable development, but due to some permitting issues it did not happen. The majority of the homes are Tesla homes and for the most the most part are self sustaining. This was not just a financial move, but also a move to care for the land in Hawaii.

While Ainamalu has large future developmental plans, there currently are just 34 resort residences and 6 golf estates. The resort residences are very similar designed homes and offer a variety of views. On clear days, the mountain views are spectacular and during the winter months you can enjoy basking in the sun while looking at a snow capped mountains in the backdrop. The golf estates are more custom designed homes located just off the Waikoloa King’s course. These homes overall are larger than the resort residences.

Overall Ainamalu is within a somewhat isolated area of Waikoloa Beach Resort giving it more privacy than any other development, but at the same time is within a 2 mile drive to all the amenities of the Waikoloa Beach Resort. If you enjoy walking or hiking, there is a lot of designated open space around Ainamalu that can be adventurous to hike on. In the evenings after golf is done you can take a walk along the edge of the fairway of the golf course and enjoy watching the ducks play and enjoy beautiful sunsets. If you are an early riser and stay in one of the mountain view resort residences, you can enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Mauna Kea mountain.
