This July 4 holiday has a number of events for the entire family both on the Waikoloa Beach Resort and on the island as a whole.
All activities below are on Wednesday, July 4th, 2012.
The King’s Shops host the ‘Great Waikoloa Rubber Duckie Race’. Do not miss this opportunity to win great prizes and take part in the hot wing eating contest sponsored by Merriman’s Market Cafe. This is a benefit for the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawaii. Live entertainment will be available from 10am to 8:30pm at the Coronation Pavilion. The event will feature a fireworks and laser light show at 8:30 pm. Forms for “Duckie adoption” are available at all Kings’ Shops merchants on the Waikoloa Beach Resort. This is a fantastic activity for families.
The Queens Marketplace will host another event with entertainment, cotton candy, popcorn, and family fun from 6-8pm with a finale of fireworks over the Waikoloa Bowl at the Queens Gardens at 8pm. Gates to the Waikoloa Bowl open at 5pm with a free concert starting at 6pm with Johnny Shot. Beach chairs and mats are welcome. No coolers please plavix cost. This is an alcohol and drug free event. Bring the family, show your support to the community, and enjoy yourself!!
The morning kicks off at the Mauna Lani Resort at 10:30 am with The Celebration of Turtle Independence Day, which incorporates the local culture and marine life education. The Mauna Lani Resort has been raising juvenile honu (turtles) for over 20 years. The honu are cared for in the saltwater ponds of the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows. Once they reach a predetermined weight and size they are released to the ocean every 4th of July. Many locals as well as vacationers gather to enjoy this fascinating event. This annual celebration honors the honu and helps educate the public about the Hawaiian green sea turtle. There will be live entertainment, a 4th of July BBQ, along with an educational display about green sea turtles
The Kailua-Kona July 4th Parade travels from Kona Pool/Gym to Walua Road past Coconut Grove. Announcing stations at West Hawaii Today, Remixx at King Kamehameha Mall, King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, Boston Basil’s, Pancho & Lefty’s, Kimo’s (with magic before), Waterfront Row, Lava Java, and Humpy’s at Coconut Grove. Come support the community from 5:30 pm to 7pm.
