COVID-19 Travel Information & Cancellation Policy

By April 28, 2020May 11th, 2022Uncategorized

Update (March 1, 2022): For stays beginning after March 25, 2022 the Hawaii Safe Travels program will no longer be in place.  This means that you do not need to provide a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination.  Please check local government regulations as this policy is further implemented over the course of the next few weeks.

For reservations made on or after March 2, 2022

For any stay beginning after March 25, 2022 our standard cancellation policy will be in place.  This policy is that once the deposit is paid the deposit is lost if you cancel.  The rent is due 60 days prior to arrival.  Once the rent is paid nothing is refundable unless we are able to rebook the property.

In the event Hawaii puts any restrictions on travel such as reimplementing the Hawaii Safe Travel program, the prior cancellation policy (below) will apply.

While the State of Hawaii does not require it, if you test positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of traveling and wish to cancel your reservation we will allow you to do so and receive a 97% refund.  A test will need to be provided from a lab with someone in the travel parties name on it.  At home tests will not be accepted under any situation.

For reservations made prior to March 2, 2022

Due to COVID-19 our cancellation policy has changed.  This will supersede our standard cancellation policy through 2022.

In the event Hawaii  reinstitutes the mandatory 14 day quarantine, guests will have the option to use all the funds towards a credit for a future stay at any of our properties within a year of their original booking or can get a refund less a 3% processing fee of any funds already processed.  This will also be the case if your state, country, or province institutes a policy that completely restricts travel to the State of Hawaii.  This will need to be a formal policy instituted, not a recommendation by an authority.

In the event some one in your direct travel party tests positive within 5 days of traveling to Hawaii or is hospitalized you will have the same option as above.  The positive test result or letter from the hospital will need to be provided to Waikoloa Vacation Rentals.

There are several insurance companies that do provide COVID-19 coverage and if it is a concern to you or your family we would recommend considering one of those.

You can view the travel requirements and more information for the State of Hawaii at Safe Travels Hawaii.

Last September I booked a stay at Kolea in July of this year through your firm. Do the COVID 19 Cancellation policies apply to that reservation?

  • This is a great tip especially to those new to
the blogosphere. Brief but very precise
information… Thanks for sharing this one.

    A must read post!

Aloha, we are reserved for the end of Sept. for one week in Kolea6. To say we are concerned and worried about Covid19 is an understatement for sure. We are seeking you advice about the possibility that the quarantine may extend beyond the Summer and we especially are concerned that our rent is due in August. Will we know by mid August if the Islands open up by then for our family vacation then. We also have no idea if Hawaiian Air will have our flights still by then. I know about your flexibility but, what if the next time we want to visit, your facility is booked. So, that brings me up to my final question. In the event we need to cancel, is it possible to reschedule our stay to next year, 2021, without losing our deposit?

We need to cancel our reservations for June 12-June 17 as we are unable to fly to Hawaii as our airline has canceled our flight from the states.
We would like to rebook again when we can figure out a date all of our family can make their schedules work.

    Aloha,
I have booked Hali’i Kai for November 2020. I paid my deposit in December 2019. Balance is due September 9. What is your policy regarding this rental time frame? I purchased cancellation insurance with my rental. Does insurance apply to COVID 19?

    Thank you. Mahalo
