Rule 23 – Big Island Vacation Rental Legislation

By March 4, 2019About Hawaii

In 2019 the County of Hawaii will require all Big Island vacation rental owners to register their vacation rental.  This will apply to both conforming and non-conforming vacation rentals.  Most resort properties fall under conforming.  They will require a registration form to be completed and be accompanied by $500.  It is still in the draft staged, but is expected to be completed this month with the registration form being available sometime in April.  Other counties in the Hawaii chain have implemented this in the past decade in order to help address illegal rentals.  You can view more on the bill here.
