6 Bedroom House at Kolea at Waikoloa Beach Resort

kolea house rentalThe Kolea Palace is a 6 bedroom beachfront home at Kolea at Waikoloa Beach Resort.  This home offers easy access to amenities of the resort as well as easy access to the beach at A’Bay.

The house is situated next to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott, which has a selection of dining, spa, and much more.  Just in front of the Marriott is the beach at A’Bay.  There is an ancient Hawaiian pond that buffers the beach and the home.  Located just a few lots down from the home is the Kolea Beach Club.

The main house has 4 bedrooms with amazing views from the great room as well as the master bedroom.  The large lanai has ample seating as well as a pool with a jacuzzi.

Detached from the home is a 2 bedroom guest house.  This home gives privacy for guests.

Kolea Beach Club at Kolea at Waikoloa Beach Resort

kolea beach clubThe Kolea Beach Club at Kolea at Waikoloa offers some amazing amenities for guests at Kolea with nice panoramic views of the beach and ocean.  The Beach Club also offers direct beach access to A’Bay via a sand path.

Inside the gate of this private Club is an infinity pool, sand bottom kids pool with a waterfall, and a lava rock jacuzzi offering something for everyone.  There is also a nice lawn area for basking in the sun.

The covered pavilion offers a lounge area with comfortable chairs and couches as well as an area with tables that seat 4 and chairs.

The open air fitness hale features some cardio equipment and has an open view of the ocean and pool area.

The Kolea Beach Club is for exclusive use of Kolea guests.

Selecting a Waikoloa Condo

Waikoloa Beach Resort has the largest selection of vacation rentals on the Big Island of Hawaii and sometimes it can be quit challenging to find the perfect Waikoloa condo for you.  Here is a helpful guide to help you better understand each property and hopefully help make your vacation condo selection experience a little easier.

kolea condoKolea – Kolea offers the most luxurious condos in the Waikoloa Beach Resort.  The property is situated on the beach at A’Bay thus giving easy beach access.  It is also located between the Hilton Waikoloa and Waikoloa Beach Marriott giving easy access to both properties.  The complex offers the most variety of rentals.  On the frontage of the complex you will find multi million dollar private homes that have amazing views and range in size from 3-6 bedrooms.  Also located in this area of the property is the Kolea Beach Club, which is available to all guests and offers direct beach access.  Located behind this in a U shape are spacious 3 bedroom condos with large pocket doors, which most open up to views.  All of them encompass over 1600 square feet of space and offer large lanais.  Nestled in behind these are 2 bedroom condos and smaller 3 bedrooms condos.  These offer the same luxurious appointments as the others, but is a smaller size.

halii kai condosHalii Kai –  Halii Kai offers some of the best amenities of any complex at the Halii Kai Ocean Club.  The Ocean Club is on an oceanfront setting and offers a multi layer pool, a restaurant and bar, and a fitness center.  All condos at Halii Kai have access to these amenities.  Halii Kai is situated on a long narrow piece of land spanning over 1/2 mile in length.  The ones near the amenities are in a prime location as well as offer amazing ocean views.  Another large number of condos offer fairway views.  Some others are located around a lawn area.  If staying at Halii Kai, we highly recommend selecting a property near the Ocean Club as this will give you an amazing view as well as easy access to the amenities.  During the winter months whales are visible from the lanais of these condos.

Vista Waikoloa – Vista Waikoloa is one of the older complexes at Waikoloa Beach Resort, but offers a central location within the resort.  90% of these condos are two bedrooms and range in size from 1200-1300 square feet.  The Vista Waikoloa has one of the few heated lap pools in the resort and has a nice fitness center and pavilion.  Given that these condos are a little older, it is highly recommended to book one that has been upgraded.

The Shores –  The Shores also are centrally located within the resort and offer 1-3 bedroom condos.  There are some detached townhome style villas available here also.  They are also spacious condos spanning in sizes from 1100-1400 square feet.  This property also offers an array of amenities includes some water features around the property, tennis court, fitness center, and pool.  It is also highly recommended here to choose a condo that has been upgraded.

The Fairway Villas – The Fairway Villas are located near the Kings Shops and Queens Shops.  There are 2 and 3 bedroom condos here.  Some have fairway views and others overlook the ponds.  There is an infinity pool as well as fitness center here for guests use.  These condos are also starting to get older so it is recommended to choose an upgraded one.

The Beach Villas – The Beach Villas are located near the Kings and Queens Shops.  There are two and 3 bedroom condos here.  They offer the easiest access to events at the Waikoloa Bowl.  The amenities here are also very nice and feature a fitness center and a nice resort style pool.  These condos are roughly 7 years old so most of the furnishings in these condos are still relatively new.

Waikoloa Tourism Update

The vacation rental industry on the Big Island of Hawaii is at an interesting place.  Although numbers look relatively good to date for 2017, the future is a little uncertain.

Through the first half of the year in 2017 the Big Island of Hawaii has fared the best of all the islands with over a 10% increase in visitors from last year.  Due to new flights among other things, the biggest increase has been in international visitors.  While this is good for the Big Island as a whole, it is not necessarily good for the vacation rental industry.  The international clientele typically stays in hotels rather than vacation rentals.  This has proven to be true as the vacation rental occupancy has just barely risen in 2017.

On the positive side for properties such as Kolea at Waikoloa the higher end properties have seen the greatest increase of the vacation rentals with private homes seeing the largest increase in property type since 2016.

Looking forward at 2018 and beyond, the Hawaii tourism experts are very unsure on how the industry will do in Hawaii.  The number of people that plan to take a trip to Hawaii in the next year as fallen in half as compared to what it normally has been at for the last 5 plus years.

The main factor in this is the current airfare.  That is listed as the number one reason why people are not considering a vacation to Hawaii.  The only other factor that is close is the cost of the vacation as a whole (excluding flights), which includes the cost of the vacation rental/hotel and the cost of the rental car.

What we have seen over the course of the last few months are very unstable flight prices, but they always seem to hit a reasonable point at some point and we hope that trend continues.

Dengue Fever & The Kohala Coast

Many vacationers have had questions regarding the recent Dengue Fever outbreak in Hawaii. The Department of Health recently posted an article that should be very helpful to potential vacationers in understanding Dengue Fever, where it is more common, and the current numbers as far as cases go.

Hawaii Hotels Going Green

With a global focus on sustainability, some of the Hawaii hotels have taken a step forward to lead to the way in the hospitality industry.  Right here in Waikoloa, the Hilton Waikoloa has recovered close to 1 million beverage containers.  In Hawaii you can return those to get 5 cents per container so in this case it as also made the hotel some money to offset the cost of administering it.  They also have put in place a system to recycle cardboard, food waste, and cooking oil.

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Big Island partnered up with several local companies and launched an environmental and cultural stewardship program.  Their program is unique in the sense that they reach out to the guests as well as employees to participate.  Guests can help build trees amongst other things.

Aulani on Oahu obtained LEED Silver certification through the US Green Building Council.  You achieve this by meeting certain green standards during the construction process.

While sustainability is important globally, it is exciting to hear some businesses here in Hawaii are leading the way.

Choosing a Waikoloa Beach Resort House Rental

While the Waikoloa Beach Resort boasts over 1000 vacation rental condos and villas, it only offer few luxury oceanfront luxury home rentals.  These homes can offer perfect vacation spots for anyone from the distinguished traveler to someone just looking for enough space to accommodate their family in one location.

Only two of the communities in Waikoloa Beach Resort offer private homes, Kolea and Naupaka Place.  While Kolea is home to over 100 vacation condo rentals, it also has 16 lots.  As of 2014, over half of these lots have been developed on and only few are vacation rentals.  Naupaka Place is a luxury community with only private homes.  As of 2014, there is one private home and it is a vacation rental.

All of the Kolea vacation home rentals are 5 bedrooms with ocean views.  The prices vary based on location, view, and size.  The Kolea House of Tranquility offers a spectacular view over the fishponds of the beach at A’Bay and the ocean.  This house offers each beach access as well as offers easy access to the Kolea Beach Club next door.  Hale Kolea is one of the larger homes with 3 master bedrooms.  It is set back a little further from the ocean, but offers a peaceful panoramic ocean view.  The 5 bedroom house at Kolea is great for families.  It is a little smaller than the others, but offers a nice lawn area in the back that is great for children.

The Pacific Sunset Villa at Naupaka Place is nothing short of spectacular.  This state of the art home is located as close to the ocean as one could desire.  In the winter months you have the sounds of the waves crashing just in front of the home as well as beautiful sites of the whales.  This 4 bedroom home has been thoroughly finished and offers smart home technology as well as a private theater room.

Hawaii Vacation Rental Market Update ~ 2013

The first quarter of 2013 has been very promising for the tourism industry in Hawaii. With almost all aspects of the industry growing from 2012 it appears 2013 will be an excellent year for the vacation rental industry in Hawaii.

Each island specifically enjoyed growth.  Of the more popular islands, Oahu enjoyed the largest growth in visitors with an increase in visitors of 7%.  The Maui had the smallest growth of 6%.  All the islands seem to fair pretty.  Within 1% of each other, all the islands fared relatively the same.

As the vacation rental industry continues to grow in popularity nationally, vacation rentals were once again the sector that experienced the largest growth of all the accommodation types.  With a 7.2% growth, it fared over 1% better than the hotels did for the first quarter of 2013.

With spending up and the popularity of vacation rentals increasing, luxury vacation rental complexes such as Kolea at Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii are seeing significant increases in demand and rates.  Looking into the second quarter of 2013 better increases are expected for the vacation rental industry in Hawaii.

Waikoloa Vacation Rentals Welcomes Pacific Sunset Villa

Recently we had to opportunity to add one of the most spectacular homes on the Kohala Coast to our vacation rental program.  This home offers rare oceanfront luxury and is comfortably furnished for the most discerning traveler.

Located at Naupaka Place between Kolea at Waikoloa Beach and the Hilton Waikoloa, this home offers easy access to many amenities of the Waikoloa Beach Resort.  Just a short walk down the oceanfront path off the backyard area is the Hilton Waikoloa.  Here guests of Waikoloa Vacation Rentals have access to the popular pools, slides, grotto, and much more.  Within 1/2 mile are the Kings Shops and Queens Shops, which offer ample shopping and dining.

Just off the entrance of the house is a large great room with spectacular views.  Here there is plenty of space for everyone.  There is a nice sofa and chair for lounging facing the ocean, a dining area for eight, an entertainment area with a wall mounted LCD television, and a large state of the art kitchen.  With a click of a button the large pocket doors can be opened to bring in the view and the sounds of the tropics.

This home also offers a private movie theater with six comfortable reclining chairs facing a big screen LCD television with surround sound.

The bedrooms have been nicely furnished and all have a LCD television and private bathroom.  The two master suites offers views of the ocean.

2012 Holiday Events at Waikoloa Beach Resort

As both Christmas and the New Year get closer, there are a number of activities for adults and families at the Waikoloa Beach Resort.

For children of all ages, the Queens’ Marketplace offers pictures with Santa Monday – Friday Dec. 17 – 21, from 4 – 7 pm and Saturday & Sunday Dec. 22 & 23, from noon-2pm & 5-7pm. Bring your camera to capture the magical moments and share the experience with the entire family.

The Festival of Lights, a spectacular display of over 10,000 dancing lights set to holiday music, is available through December 31st at the Kings’ Shops. There are shows at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm daily.

Rob Decker performs a free show on the 17th at the Kings’ shops at 7pm and on the 18th join John Keawe, grammy award winning Hawaiian slack-key guitar artist, at 7pm as well.

On the 19th, join Aulani’s Hula Halau for Polynesian dancing at its best. This complimentary performance begins at 6:30pm at the Queens’ Shops and is great for all ages. At the Kings’ Shops at 7pm, meet island musicians and enjoy both traditional and contemporary island flavor.

On the 20th, experience a complimentary guided petroglyph tour and learn some local history. Meet at the center stage of the King’s Shops at 9:30am. Be sure to wear proper footwear as the trails can be uneven and rough in some cases. Hats and water are recommended. At 7pm, join Laulima for musical entertainment at the King’s Shops.

On the 21st, the petroglyph tour is also available with the same details as above. For something out of the ordinary, learn how to make an Ipu from a Hawaiian gourd at 4pm followed by hula lessons at 5pm. Both of these activities are at the Queens’ Shops.

On the 22nd, join Lava Lava Beach Club for complimentary entertainment from 5-9pm just at the end of the A’Bay Beach. As they say, “come get some sand between your toes” and enjoy the entertainment, food and drinks of this local favorite.

On Sunday December 23rd, come see the Great Barusky Holiday Magic Show. The event begins at 7pm at the Kings’ shops. This will be great complimentary entertainment for the little magicians in your family.

On December 24th, Lava Lava Beach club is hosting a Christmas Eve dinner, serving both from their new menu and select holiday meals.
